NEWVILLE, Pa. — To better suit the land he works on, Don Leatherman has adapted his farming methods through the decades — and still is.

In 1964, he and his wife, Lois, moved west from Don’s family’s dairy in Bucks County to the 96-acre farm they bought at the foot of the Blue Mountain in Cumberland County.

Still raising livestock and making improvements on Nature’s Nook Farm, Leatherman, 87, and daughter Lori Witmer recently shared what they’ve learned with about 50 people who gathered on the farm Oct. 18…
