Texas Roadhouse employees and patrons in Hickory are mourning the death of a beloved server.
Taylor Pendergrast, 23, of Lenoir, was struck by a car and killed along Fairgrove Church Road in Hickory on Monday, according to the Hickory Police Department.
Jayla Mack said she knew Pendergrast for at least five years and helped her apply for the job at the Texas Roadhouse on Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard. Mack said Pendergrast’s son goes to her stepmom’s daycare.
“She (Pendergrast) was calling my stepmom saying that she got into a car accident, and somebody would be there to come get her son,” Mack said. “Next thing I know, I’m getting a call saying she’s brain dead.”…
