Man gets 45 years for killing friend over catalytic converters

ST. LOUIS – A man convicted of killing his friend in 2022 during an argument was sentenced to 45 years behind bars.

A judge sentenced Cleveland V. Washington Jr., 22, to over four decades in prison. He was convicted in June for killing his friend during an argument over catalytic converters .

In June, a jury found Washington guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Deionta McCurry, 23. The shooting occurred on the evening of Aug. 21, 2022, in the 3600 block of Montana Street, located in south St. Louis’ Dutchtown neighborhood.
