Sacramento gets funds to connect bike and walking path to Sacramento Valley Station

(FOX40.COM) — A project that has been in the works for many years to connect the Sacramento Valley Station to areas immediately north via a bike and walk path has just received additional funds.

The city of Sacramento has been awarded $4.8 million from the state for the project, which will help complete the path from the station to Bercut Drive, which follows the I-5 just north of Old Sacramento.

A news release from the city on Friday said the path will connect to a tunnel that was built in 2012 and goes under the railroad tracks at the Sacramento Valley Station. The tunnel has been closed ever since because the rest of the path project to the north has not been built…
