REDDING, Calif. — The Cascade Theatre is celebrating a significant milestone this weekend, marking 20 years since its restoration. Originally built in the 1930s, the Cascade Theatre was the first air-conditioned building in Redding and served as a downtown centerpiece.
Over the years, the theater fell into disrepair, but thanks to the efforts of Southern Oregon University, the JPR Foundation and the McConnell Foundation, it was restored to its original splendor two decades ago.
To commemorate the occasion, the theater is hosting a free showing of “The Wizard of Oz” on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1 p.m. Later in the evening, two local rock bands will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.
The events are free, and attendees can enjoy drinks and swag available at the venue…
