REDDING, Calif. — Billions of dollars are being allocated by the state of California to address the homelessness and substance use disorder crisis through Proposition 1.
A forum held in Redding on Friday aimed to answer questions and concerns about this initiative to reform the behavioral health system.
The forum, held in the supervisors’ chambers, was largely attended by elected officials, program providers and community members interested in learning more about the initiative. Many attendees were also considering applying for a portion of the $6.4 billion bond passed by voters in March as part of Prop 1, known as the “Behavioral Health Services Act.”
Currently, the county is not leading projects but is encouraging nonprofits and other organizations to apply for Proposition One funding. These groups are being urged to partner with each other or with the county to effectively utilize the funds…
