Tampa Man Charged with Multiple Robberies Across Florida, Could Face Life in Prison if Convicted

A Tampa man, Malcolm Green, 29, has been charged with a spree of robberies across multiple counties in Florida. The indictment was unsealed with charges that include conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robbery, committing a Hobbs Act robbery, and using a firearm during a violent crime, as reported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. If convicted, Green may face life in prison.

Green is accused of coordinating and executing a series of robberies, one of which involved taking approximately $8,000 worth of cigarettes from a convenience store in Brooksville on May 27. The crime spree continued into the following month with two additional holdups in Ocala, and, again in Brooksville. According to court documents, the accused donned a black hoodie and blue medical mask before proceeding behind a drugstore counter, and displaying a handgun with an extended magazine to the clerk on June 28.

After the Tampa drugstore robbery, law enforcement was quick to locate the sedan used in the crimes. According to the official statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Green made a failed escape attempt striking a building column, which resulted in his arrest by ATF agents and Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies…
