Rangers recall Jake Leschyshyn from Hartford ahead of game against Ducks

Two days after assigning popular forward Matt Rempe to Hartford of the American Hockey League, the New York Rangers called up Jake Leschyshyn ahead of their game against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.

The 25-year-old forward appears to be the extra forward Saturday unless someone on the Rangers roster is ill or injured. All 12 forwards practiced Friday. Alexis Lafreniere, missed practice earlier in the week, but played — and scored his fourth goal — Thursday in a 3-1 loss to the Florida Panthers.

Leschyshyn was the Second Star in Hartford’s 4-3 overtime win against Lehigh Valley on Friday. He scored his first goal of the season 49 seconds into the third period and assisted on an earlier by defenseman Matthew Robertson. He has three points (goal, two assists) in five games this season…
