Alpharetta ‘came to play’ and returns to GHSA 6A state title game

The Alpharetta Raiders are continuing their title defense as they picked up a 3-1 win over Norcross in the Georgia High School Association Class 6A semi-final match, advancing to the state title game for the second consecutive season, however the Blue Devils ensured the Raiders would have to put up a fight to get the win on Saturday.

After taking Set 1, which was relatively close throughout, 25-19, the Raiders would win Set 2 by a final of 25-17. However, the Blue Devils would display resilience in route to a 25-23 win of set three, ending the Raiders consecutive set wins at 30 in a row. However, bouncing back in Set 4, after trailing 10-8, a 17-6 run by the Raiders would lead to them winning the set 25-16 and the match.

“Huge match. Norcross is a phenomenal team, bug hitters, great set over there,” Alpharetta community coach, Grace Fossier, said following the Raiders’ win on Saturday, praising the Alpharetta players for their efforts. “Our girls came out to play. It was a hard competition but they definitely showed up,” Fossier added as she noted some of the individual performances pf Alpharetta players and their ability to bring it all together for a team win…
