Friends and family say goodbye to 120 Michigan National Guard troops before deployment

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — About 120 soldiers from to the Michigan Army National Guard were sent off by friends and family before deployment Saturday.

The Michigan Army National Guard’s 1463rd Transportation Company, based out of Battle Creek, gatheredat Lakeview Middle School in Battle Creek.

They were met by friends and family ahead of their deployment to the southwest American border in support of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) mission.

This deployment is anticipated to last up to a year, according to officials.
