SOUTH BEND — It was the deepest postseason run in Hanover Central girls soccer history, but it had to end sometime.

The Wildcats pushed Mishawaka Marian, with its bevy of club players and future college athletes, about as far as possible before falling 5-3 after a shootout in the Class 2A semistate Saturday at South Bend St. Joseph. It was 1-1 after regulation and two overtime periods.

“We left it all on the field,” senior Shea Garringer said. “We’ve never made it to semistate. Yes we lost, but my mindset was ‘We made it to semistate. We made it this far as a team.’ We left it all out there.”…
