NFWF awards $3.7 million for Pecos Watershed in New Mexico and Texas

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) has announced 15 grants totaling $3.7 million in support of conservation efforts to restore wetland and wildlife habitats across the Pecos Watershed in New Mexico and Texas.

The grants were awarded through the Pecos Watershed Conservation Initiative, a collaboration with private sector partners and federal agencies, including the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. The awards will leverage an additional $4.7 million in matching funds for a total impact of $8.4 million.

Supported projects will address key conservation opportunities, including the restoration 45,000 acres of native Chihuahuan Desert grasslands and provide important habitat for pronghorn and migratory grassland bird species…
