Exactly when Summit Street will reopen between Cherry and Jackson streets isn’t yet certain, but a lot of that zone was paved last week.
That closing and the single-lane zone on Cherry between Superior Street and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Bridge — including a separate project on the bridge itself — has been arguably the Toledo area’s most chronic traffic headache for more than a month now.
Once Summit is finished between Jackson and Cherry, the other half of the Summit/Cherry intersection will be rebuilt. That will cut off Summit on the north side of Cherry, but access between the King bridge and downtown should improve considerably…
