Newton High School Students ‘Plant the Promise’ for Red Ribbon Week

NEWTON, NJ – Newton High School Peer Leaders spent some of their lunch period digging in the dirt on Friday. The students with advisor Lisa Bechtel were planting tulip bulbs that will decorate the front of the school and the school’s sign in the spring.

The Braves were one of seven schools selected by the Center for Prevention and Counseling to receive the bulbs as part of their “Plant the Promise” Red Ribbon Week celebration.

“Students get to plant flower bulbs during Red Ribbon Week which bloom in the Spring, and serve as a reminder of the importance and the beauty of living a drug-free life. Additionally, it provides a chance to enjoy the outdoors, connect with nature, take a break from daily stress, and see the rewards of something beautiful students have nurtured,” Center for Prevention and Counseling’s Kaitlyn Decker said…
