GROVETOWN, Ga. (WJBF) – Congressman Rick Allen was part of an appreciation luncheon at the Columbia County Exhibition Center in Grovetown on Monday, Oct. 28 to recognize and honor those who put their lives on the line.
First responders expressed gratitude for the support they receive, before, during and after events like Hurricane Helene.
“It was tough but that is what they train for, that’s what they’re there for,” said Stephen Sewell, EMA director of McDuffie County. “We had personnel work extra days because they knew the community needed them and we appreciate our employees doing that. But it does take a toll and we always want to offer services after the fact if they need to sit down and talk to someone cause mental health is a bit part of emergency response and that’s what we ensure.”…
