New “sticker shop” crackdown law in Chemung County to begin Tuesday

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Chemung County Executive Chris Moss says he will sign a new law Tuesday that will allow the Sheriff’s Office to padlock “sticker shops” that sell unlicensed cannabis. This comes after residents had a chance to voice their opinions for or against the law.

Eight people showed up at Monday’s nine a.m. public hearing at the Hazlett Building Elmira. Two Horseheads residents and a Town of Veteran Code Enforcement officer spoke in favor of the law approved by County Legislature earlier this month. One woman only asked a question about the drafting of the law. Four people voiced their opinions against it.
