SANTA MONICA – Police arrested a suspect in the October 16 stabbing of a homeless man on the 500 block of Broadway in Santa Monica, authorities announced.
Santa Monica Police Department officers responded around 7 p.m. on October 16 to a report of a man bleeding on the sidewalk. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a recent homeless arrival to the area from Kentucky, suffering from a stab wound. The man was able to provide officers with a basic description and possible first name of his attacker.
Following a review of surveillance footage and a thorough investigation, detectives identified 23-year-old Damian Garcia as the suspect. Garcia, who is also homeless and recently arrived in Santa Monica from Florida, was arrested on October 23.
