On the afternoon of October 20, 2024, a devastating traffic collision in Apple Valley resulted in the death of a Hesperia man, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. Joseph Romo, 39, succumbed to his injuries six days after the single-vehicle crash that occurred near Joshua Road and South Road.
The accident involved a white Tesla Model 3, which was reported to have lost control before veering off the road. The vehicle went airborne upon striking a dirt berm and rolled multiple times. Romo was airlifted to a trauma center but ultimately did not survive the injuries sustained. Alongside him, a 38-year-old male passenger from Apple Valley was also hurt but later released from the hospital. Deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and other emergency personnel were to quickly respond to the scene.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigative Team (M.A.I.T) has taken charge of the ongoing investigation.
