LAPD seeking hit-and-run motorist in Westlake-area death

One person was killed Tuesday and another person was injured in a hit-and-run accident in the Westlake area of Los Angeles, and police sought the public’s help to find the motorist.

Officers were sent to the area of Third Street and Virgil Avenue at about 5:50 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A woman in her 70s was taken to a hospital, where she died, police said. Her name was not immediately available. A man in his 80s was taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.

According to the preliminary investigation, the woman was hit by a vehicle driven by the man in his 80s, who stopped to assist her. At that point, another vehicle hit both of them and kept going, police said. No description was available of the hit-and-run vehicle…
