Valley of Fire, Nevada’s oldest and most iconic state park, will be closed for maintenance and construction projects from Dec. 2 to Dec. 15.

Valley of Fire, Nevada’s oldest and most iconic state park, will be closed for maintenance and construction projects from Dec. 2 to Dec. 15. During this time, both entrances to the park will remain closed to all vehicle and pedestrian access, including day-use, camping, wedding events, group outings and special-use permits.

The park has experienced increased visitation as more people discover the beauty and adventure that Valley of Fire has to offer. However, this increase in traffic has taken a toll on the park’s infrastructure. “The park’s infrastructure and resources have suffered as a result of increased visitation by those who love all that Valley of Fire has to offer, so we’re dedicating time to give Nevada’s oldest state park the care it desperately needs and deserves,” said Kayla Wolfe, park interpreter.

Staff resources during this period will be focused on a variety of critical park improvement projects, including road construction for the new visitor center, fire ring replacements in campgrounds and restroom upgrades…
