(KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno State offensive coordinator Pat McCann says win or lose, quarterback Mikey Keene has never wavered in doing something each week, which speaks to his high character.
Keene had a season-high three touchdown passes in the win over San Jose State on Saturday, completing over 73 percent of his passes, which included a career-high stretch of 17 consecutive completions in the first half. Fresno State Offensive coordinator Pat McCann says the offensive line did a good job protecting him, and Mikey did a good job of moving up in the pocket. Despite some low moments this season, McCann says Keene’s leadership and maturity have shined through.
“Every Monday morning, he’s leading the film session with the receivers at 9:30 (a.m.) every Monday morning, voluntary, no coaches in there, regardless of how he played on Saturday, they’re all in there,” said McCann at the weekly press conference Monday. “It’s a credit really to both groups, you know, they keep showing up, regardless of how they played on Saturday. Play well, we don’t play well, they’re there on Monday morning, and I think that’s just an example of what I think has led Mikey to having the success that he has had. Just kind of weathering the storms you know, when he doesn’t have success.”…
