Former Oliver Springs Wastewater Operator indicted on theft charge

OLIVER SPRINGS, Tenn. (WATE) — A former Oliver Springs Chief Wastewater Operator has been indicted following an investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to the Comptroller’s office, the investigation into Travis Thrasher began after town officials reported concerns of questionable financial activities.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Thrasher allegedly purchased tires for his personal vehicle, made thousands of dollars in questionable fuel purchases for his personal vehicles, and made thousands of dollars in other questionable purchases for other items, including food, auto parts, and gift cards, all using town funds.

The total amount of money that investigators believed was either misappropriated or used incorrectly is at least $6,941…
