Newburgh Man Tried To Orchestrate Murder Of Woman From Prison, DA Says

A man who is behind bars for life for killing a 21-year-old college student has been found guilty again of hiring a hitman from prison to kill another person.

On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Cornelius Stubbs, age 53, of Newburgh, was convicted by a jury in Orange County Court of attempted murder for having attempted to cause the death of a Newburgh woman by commanding another man to kill her.

At the trial, prosecutors argued that in October 2011, Stubbs attempted to cause the death of the mother of one of his children while she was in her home on Washington Street in Newburgh, by having another man enter her home to kill her, Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler said…
