Marion man gets 262-month sentence for cocaine, gun offenses

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A U.S. District Court judge sentenced a Marion man to 262 months in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty to having a gun as a convicted felon and possessing cocaine with the intention to distribute it, according to the U.S Attorney’s Office.

According to documents in the case, 45-year-old James Darquan McCreary had the gun along with more than 500 grams of cocaine in March 2020 with plans to distribute the drug.

Authorities also determined McCreary was a “career offender” based on past felony convictions in Grant County on battery and robbery charges…
