NORRISTOWN — A Norristown man was speeding and driving recklessly on “a dark and stormy night” and caused a single-vehicle crash in Upper Merion Township that killed his girlfriend and her 3-year-old daughter who were passengers in the vehicle, a prosecutor argued to a jury.

“He was driving 60 mph on a dark and stormy night through Valley Forge Park where there is no light and without a driver’s license. The road was dark and slick with rain,” Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Courtney McMonagle argued to a jury as the vehicular homicide trial for Brayan Alejandro Gonzalez-Paez got under way.

McMonagle and co-prosecutor Caroline Rose Goldstein argued Gonzalez-Paez should have known that there was a substantial risk that his conduct could result in death or injury…
