New UW guard DJ Davis, a transfer from Butler, and before that UC Irvine, knows all about UC Davis. He was an Anteater for three years, but only played UC Davis twice because of games cancelled due to COVID. But he’s well aware of what they represent and how they play, and he was asked about them after Tuesday night’s 105-68 exhibition win over Western Oregon. He also talked about his own game, as he led seven Huskies in double-digits with 16 points, including 4-9 from three-point range. Does he see himself as UW’s main shooter from deep?
Reporters also spoke with center Franck Kepnang, now a graduate student, about his game. Kepnang, who missed the last 22 games of last year after suffering a leg injury in UW’s 100-99 double overtime win at Seattle University. In real time, it’s been 10 and-a-half months off the court, so did Franck feel any rust as a starter? He didn’t seem to miss a beat, scoring 12 points, racking up two rebounds and three blocked shots. And how was it playing against new UW forward Great Osobor?
