Despite those who expressed concerns about the detrimental impacts of Setton Pistachios continued expansion on the community of Terra Bella, the Tulare County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an Environmental Impact Report that will pave the way for another expansion project for Setton at its meeting on Tuesday.
Board members Larry Micari, Dennis Townsend, Pete Vander Poel, Amy Shuklian and Eddie Valero all approved the EIR for the Setton Pistachio Treated Waster Water Land Expansion Project. Townsend moved to approve the motion.
The project will allow Setton to expand its use of wastewater to irrigate an addition 89 acres of pistachios, increasing Setton’s acreage it owns from 872 to 961 acres. The expansion will allow Setton to increas the amount of pistachios it process from 101.3 million to 122 million pounds per year…
