TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — There has been a big push in Hillsborough County to get voters to support renewing a half-cent sales tax.
“This is imperative, this funding,” said Tampa Mayor Jane Castor.

News Channel 8 sat down with the mayor as she made a final plea to get voters to renew the Community Investment Tax (CIT) during the November election.
“It’s a half-penny sales tax, so very fairly distributed based on what people buy,” Castor said. “The Community Investment Tax is a renewal of something they’ve been paying for almost 30 years now. We have been an incredibly good steward of those tax dollars over the last 28 years.”…
