Opinion: By cutting off Girl Scouts, archdiocese chose division, self-loathing over love

Archbishop Dennis Schnurr recently announced the Archdiocese of Cincinnati would sever its relationship with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio , claiming that the organization promotes “false and harmful” views. As a former Girl Scout − and a former Catholic − I find myself reaching new levels of frustration with the archdiocese.

Both institutions played a role in shaping who I am, but only the Girl Scouts continue to uphold values rooted in the teachings of Christianity: respecting the belief that we are all created in God’s image and called to care for one another.
