JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Absentee voting numbers in Mississippi are creeping closer to 2020’s record-breaking totals. Nearly 120,000 had been received as of October 28, with even more requested. Meanwhile, Mississippi is one of only three states without true early voting.
A staffer from the circuit clerk’s officer reminded the line of absentee voters at the Hinds County Courthouse that they would need a reason to vote early.
Several reasons will make you eligible to vote absentee like if you’re over 65, will be out of town on election day, are disabled, or work outside the the county you live in. The full list can be viewed HERE. But voters we spoke with hope the state will drop those excuses…
