Des Moines-area mayors are contemplating changes to central Iowa’s tradition of trick-or-treating on Oct. 30, known as Beggars’ Night, which dates back to the late 1930s.
“For more than 80 years, kids in most metro cities have done their trick-or-treating on Beggars’ Night, the night before Halloween,” said Des Moines Mayor Connie Boesen.
The original idea was to separate the little kids from any pranks or hooliganism on Halloween night. But now it may be time for a change…
