A young Texas woman currently now living in Ocean County lost a legal challenge today to be permitted to vote because she never registered.
Superior Court Judge James Den Uyl read a letter from the woman, whose name is being withheld by the New Jersey Globe, that said: “I didn’t realize I needed to register. I just assumed that as long as you have an American passport, you can vote. I think it says wherever in the USA for President.”
“Today I went to go vote and they’re like, ‘you’re not registered.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ I have a passport.’ And they’re like, ‘you need to register.’ I’m like, “I am from Texas. I moved here and I just assumed that in the presidential election, you’re just able to vote anywhere you are, and I would really, really love to vote in this election.’”…
