The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Oct. 25 that six people have been charged in a murder-for-hire plot that left a man dead at a gas station at La Cienega and Beverly boulevards in August 2022.
The defendants include Grammy Award-winning rapper “Lil Durk,” whose real name is Durk Banks, 32, of Chicago. Banks was arrested on Oct. 24 near Miami International Airport on a criminal complaint charging him with conspiracy to use interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death. If convicted, Banks and the five other defendants charged with the crime in a separate indictment face a maximum sentence of life in federal prison.
The shooting occurred on Aug. 19, 2022, at a gas station at the northeast corner of La Cienega and Beverly boulevards, across from the Beverly Center.
