Essex Rescue to ask for more funding to continue to operate

ESSEX JUNCTION — This year, Essex Rescue is looking to increase in funds by 5.5% from the five municipal partners they serve.

That was the message of Essex Rescue executive director Colleen Ballard at the Essex Junction City Council’s Wednesday night meeting. Essex Rescue serves the Town of Essex, Essex Junction, Jericho, Underhill and Westford.

Ballard told City Councilors Tuesday night that Essex Rescue’s overall call volume has gone up 30% in the last four years, which is “increasing faster than we can financially and logistically adapt,” according to a memo from Ballard…
