WASHINGTON (7News) — October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month — and one Washington, D.C. native is boldly sharing her story to encourage others to get help.
Erica, who didn’t want to share her last name, is a survivor of years of abuse. She recalled just some of the messages she would receive from her ex-fiance–the father of one of her children.
“‘When I catch you, I’m going to beat the F out of you, I’m going to smack you out,'” Erica said. “He would tell me he’s going to kill me.”
