After nearly a year of capturing attention and headlines from outlets across the country, the Pacific Northwest’s most famous therapy animals, Beni the llama and Captain Jack the alpaca, returned to Portland International Airport on Thursday to deliver a gentle nudge of happiness to Halloween travelers.
Five llamas and six alpacas live on the Mtn Peaks Therapy Llamas & Alpacas farm in Ridgefield, Washington, and mother-daughter caregivers Lori Gregory and Shannon Joy enjoy sharing “llama love.” Since 2007, they have been escorting the calming camelids to more than 300 events a year.
