The Fan is flush with new barbecue after two newbies, Bar-Q and Brickwood Barbecue, opened in recent weeks just a few blocks apart.

Bar-Q, the Richmond outpost of the popular Norfolk barbecue joint, opened last week in the old SB’s Main Street Love Shack/Brunch/Starlite spot at 2600 W. Main St.

  • On the menu: Meat-heavy platters starting at $24, pulled pork at $23 per pound, brisket or pork sandwiches ($10-$12) and plenty of homemade sides.
  • Bar-Q, apparently pronounced Bark, is open Wednesday- Sunday, 11am-7pm or sell-out.
