City of Rockville Opens Food Scraps Compost Drop-Off in Twinbrook

Rockville now offers three free 24/7 food scrap drop-off sites, including the newest at Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, to support easy composting and reduce landfill waste, with weekly pickups sent to a Prince George’s County composting facility.

Per the news release: “The City of Rockville now offers residents three free food scrap drop-off sites to make composting easy, keep valuable materials out of landfills and reduce excessive greenhouse gas emissions:

  • Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway.
  • Rockville Senior Center, 1150 Carnation Drive.
  • Maintenance Facility, 14625 Rothgeb Drive.

Food scraps will be picked up weekly by a commercial contractor and delivered to the Prince George’s County Organic Compost Facility…
