A pair of Galesburg grocery stores will at least for now keep their self checkout lanes despite a corporate plan to remove them in some markets.
Hy-Vee spokesperson Nola Aigner Davis said that in recent months, some stores have gotten rid of some or all self checkouts. At other stores, self checkouts have converted to express lanes with a limit of 12 items or less.
Davis tells WGIL that Hy-Vee has not determined a list of which stores will keep or remove self-checkout aisles, but said the two stores in Galesburg still offer the option…
