Mississippi is a diverse place in many ways. Geographically it includes the flat agriculture lands of the Mississippi Delta , the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in the northeast and the coast with its island wonderlands including Cat, Ship, Horn and Deer islands .
Culturally, it’s diverse as well and a melting pot of too many ethnic backgrounds to list with a modern history dating back to 1699 when French explorer Pierre Le Moyne d’Iberville landed in what is now Ocean Springs.
So, with that comes a state rich in things to do and see and here are five places that every Mississippian should visit and enjoy, and with maybe a little time off in the holiday season, these could be on a bucket list.
