Pack the Pirogue, an initiative of Louisiana Federal Credit Union (FCU), a division of OnPath Credit Union, has provided essential school supplies to teachers and students across South Louisiana. Now in its 7th year, the program continues to expand its reach, ensuring that even more classrooms are equipped with the tools necessary for learning, fostering a positive impact on education in the region.

For several years, Louisiana FCU has led the way with Pack the Pirogue, donating thousands of school supplies to classrooms in the River Parishes. This initiative has not only transformed communities in St. John the Baptist, St. James, Ascension, and Lafourche Parishes but has also become a cornerstone of Louisiana FCU’s commitment to serving its communities.

Now, as part of the credit union’s merger with OnPath FCU, the initiative has expanded to the Northshore and Greater New Orleans areas, broadening its positive impact. A total of 9,000 school supplies were collected and distributed to 19 classrooms, each nominated by community members. These donations support teachers, students, and families facing financial challenges within the community. In Ascension, recipient schools/teachers are:

  • School: Central Primary School – Teacher: Makenzie Garcia
  • School: Gonzales Middle school – Teacher: Fredericka Ausbrooks (see above)
