Hazmat responds after ‘unknown liquid’ found near Orosi

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – An abandoned metal drum was found on the banks of a canal near Orosi late Thursday night with a “petroleum-based product” inside, the Tulare County Fire Department said.

According to the fire department, crews responded to the canal bank at Road 128 and Avenue 440 near Orosi. They found a 55-gallon drum with an “unknown liquid” inside and requested Visalia Fire Department’s Hazmat team to respond.

Officials later determined that the liquid inside was a “petroleum-based product.”
