CARROLL – Defense was optional during Friday’s Division III, Region 11 first-round playoff showdown between Bloom-Carroll and Bishop Hartley, and in what turned into a shootout, the Bulldogs had the final answer.
While the Hawks ran the ball at will, led by running back Robert Lathon, the Bulldogs had the equalizer in senior quarterback Ethan Thanthanavong, who put Bloom-Carroll on his back and carried his team to a heart-stopping 44-43 victory at Bloom-Carroll’s Carl Fell Stadium to avenge a 44-38 loss to the Hawks in Week 8.
Bloom-Carroll (9-2) advances to a second-round game and will travel to Licking Valley next Friday…
