UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — The opening night for the John Carroll Men’s Wrestling program, although a packed house at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center filled with excitement for the upcoming season, was underwhelming.
Despite a first match victory, Albion seemed to outmatch John Carroll for the rest of the night, defeating them by a score of 38-3. The Blue Streaks did see some promising performances, regardless of the unfortunate start to the season.
In the first match, and only win of the night for either JCU Wrestling squad, Brett Stanley was taken down early by Jeremy Sarter, but battled back for a hard fought 8-5 win. He had a 3-point takedown with around 8 seconds remaining to secure a dramatic victory to begin the night…
