Florida Guardian ad Litem program champions use personal experiences for advocacy

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — When a child is in the dependency court system due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment, their Guardian ad Litem is there to advocate in their best interest. The Florida Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office relies on the lived experiences of young adults who grew up in care to be “champions” and to lead the conversation to better focus on child advocacy’s best practices.

“I’m a champion because I want to advocate for children that were in similar needs or similar situations or even just in any general situation with a foster system,” says Ethan Duross.
