Danbury Fair mall mural project gets ArtEtc, a group that’s worked with Amazon, Aritizia

The long corridors filled with upscale retailers and the high ceilings with a menagerie of metal beams meeting in sharp angles beneath a row of skylights is a far cry from the tent-filled, trodden grass field that was once the Danbury Fair, its history now preserved in the mall’s name.

But the legacy of the land that, from 1821 through October of 1981, was the town’s great harvest celebration will be preserved and honored with a new mural this month. It’s the second mural produced through a collaboration between the mall and the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut.

The two this year selected ArtEtc, a group of artists and designers from Connecticut and New York that specializes in large-scale work like murals and installations. The organization was founded in 2014 by artist Marshall Okin. ArtEtc has produced some massive pieces for high-end clients like Amazon for its New York headquarters at the Hudson Yards, luxury clothing brand Aritzia for multiple locations, and work for other brands and landmark buildings like New York’s Park Avenue Tower…
