SYKESVILLE, Md. — A Maryland State Police helicopter rescued a fallen hiker Friday afternoon in Carroll County.

The hiker slipped and fell about 20 feet from the top of a cliff onto a train tunnel around 3 p.m. Friday in the area of Gaither Road and Railroad Avenue in Sykesville.

Trooper 1, a crew based out of Martin State Airport in Middle River, maneuvered the state police helicopter into a 120-foot hover while trooper/flight paramedics were deployed to perform a trauma assessment and prepare the injured patient to be hoisted…
