Blind Pig Brewing will open a new brewpub inside the old Destihl space in Downtown Champaign. The brewery announced the news on their website and social media last Friday night. At this time, no opening date or other details about the taproom have been shared.
Apart from this year’s Champaign Whiskey Fest, the huge restaurant space has sat empty since its 2020 closure, but soon (presumably after renovations), this cornerstone will be active once again, which is awesome.
Blind Pig Brewing’s beer is on tap at several Champaign-Urbana bars and restaurants in addition to retail cans. The current brews are U of IPA, Blue Pils, Columbia Street coffee stout, American wheat beer with raspberry, Piggy Pop fruited sour, and more. The brewery will soon release a Czech-style dark lager called I Hate Illinois Nazis, plus two high-gravity brews: a milk stout with cherry and one called Buddy Christmas, a porter with vanilla and peppermint mocha coffee…
