Springfield City Manager Jason Gage is nearing the end of his tenure at the city. Springfield City Council, which already approved a six-figure severance package, is preparing to launch its search for his successor, which is likely to cost tens thousands of dollars more.
Gage announced his resignation last month but will remain on board until Jan. 11. His separation agreement includes a year’s worth of severance pay, with Mayor Ken McClure noting Gage will be available throughout that year in an advisory role. According to previous News-Leader reporting , the prior three city managers did not receive severance upon their resignation or retirement.
