Man allegedly shoots woman dead after mistaking her for deer during nighttime hunt

A hunter shot a woman dead while she was on a nighttime walk with her husband and dog after allegedly mistaking her for a deer.

The tragic incident occurred in Summerville, South Carolina at around 8:15 p.m. on Oct. 29, according to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

Kristofer Kelle McDonald, 20, was out for a night hunt near the Sawmill Branch walking trail, and Lori Wind, 54, and her husband were walking their dog. McDonald allegedly mistook the sounds of leaves crunching and branches snapping for a deer and shot three to four rounds from a 20-gauge shotgun in the direction of Wind, according to The Independent …
